Metamorphosis

By night a wolf I am,
I’m gray and angry
who all the hunters
want to kill

By day
I am a falcon,
with angry cry
I fall upon my prey

An ugly spell
by ancient magus
has cut our love
and us apart

By day a man I am,
a warrior adoring battles.
I often feed
my sword with blood

By nigh I am a woman,
and a healer.
I use my wisdom
to inspire and to help

But only
for some precious moments
when mighty sun
is kissing quiet earth;

we are allowed
to be a man
and be a woman, to look
into each other’s eyes

The moment’s gone –
and you are a falcon, I am a man
and both we cry

Tonight again
at golden sunset,
we both will cry
in pain again;

and once again
you’ll turn to woman
and I will be
a  wolf again.
